Jul. 15th, 2004 03:15 pmSome of you might have heard about the Tom Bihn nylon bags that had at the bottom of the label, after the washing instructions in French, the phrase "NOUS SOMMES DESOLES QUE NOTRE PRESIDENT SOIT UN IDIOT. NOUS N'AVONS PAS VOTE POUR LUI." Roughly translated, this statement reads in English as: "We're sorry our president is an idiot. We didn't vote for him." The company claims it doesn't know who did it and that the phrase is referring to the eponymous president of their own company. Many people, however, think it refers to Bush, and the French evidently think it refers to Chirac.
