I need to give the doc manager in India a big kiss when I get there for making me move the date of my trip. I'd already mentioned to my manager a couple of months ago that I'd need to go to the UK around Easter for a "planning meeting," so when I talked to him this morning and explained the problem with the India dates, he was amenable to my working out of the UK for three days. Eastercon, here I come!

And it gets even better: I ran the itinerary this morning as it was - SFO/Frankfurt/Bangalore/Frankfurt (stop)/SFO - and the price was $2731.19, which is about $500 cheaper than the Bangalore ticket for the original dates (because the return flight out of Bangalore was sold out of the cheap seats). Then, after my manager okayed the trip, out of curiosity I tested an ideal ticket going straight to London and then to San Francisco without my having to buy the Frankfurt/London round-trip myself. It was $2769.78, only about $40 more.

So, Sun is paying for my trip to Eastercon, saving me about $750 and giving me time to see folks in the UK before the convention. Not to mention avoiding the wear and tear on the bod from going back and forth to India and then back and forth to the UK. I am a happy puppy!

P.S. I also want to express thanks for the accommodation offers that I've already received from hospitable fans in the UK :->
