Best Laid Plans
Mar. 17th, 2005 07:06 amThe plan for Thursday was to get into work for the first of my writer meetings at 10, go to a group lunch at a nearby Chinese restaurant at 12:30, and then after that go shopping on the major shopping drag. Back to the hotel for an early dinner, pack, nap for a couple of hours, then shower and change and leave for the airport at midnight. *ha*
I should have known the day wouldn't work as planned when the driver I'd been using since I got here mysteriously didn't show up at the previously arranged 9:30 time. I loyally waited until about 9:40 but then was afraid I'd be late so they got me another driver. However, the traffic was so disgusting that I was still late, although everyone at work understood. The meetings prior to lunch therefore got pushed back until right after lunch. Which you would have thought would have been over by 2 but no: we got into one of those group meal situations where everyone was trying to organize the ordering so we had the least amount of individual dishes and so on. We didn't get back until almost 3, so I was tied up until nearly 5.
Luckily, Viji, the manager of my group offered to accompany me shopping ( more shopping tales )
By the time I got back to the hotel it was nearly 7:30 -- goodbye to naptime and hello to dinner. It's now nearly 9 and I still have to pack, shower, and change. Next stop: the UK!
