Shazbat!

So, I'm supposed to be going to ConQuesT in Kansas City over Memorial Day weekend (the last weekend in May) with Stephen, who will be in town for a business trip with a co-worker and an accompanying account exec, and then the day after returning home, heading off to Australia. Having been burned in the past, I am determined not to buy my tickets until getting confirmation on his flights, especially as in this case we'd like to travel together. The trip is being arranged by the account exec's business travel agency and at first they just dragged their feet. Stephen kept being promised that they'd have the tickets any day, but the "day" kept being pushed out. Then, they decided it would be less confusing if they just booked their tickets SFO/MEL return and then added the KC legs afterward. However, still no tickets, and the cost for the KC trip is getting higher all the time.

Finally, today, Stephen told me that the latest hangup has to do with a passport requirement for foreign residents traveling to the US: although he always carries his with him (not having a drivers license, it's his only photo ID), his co-worker had trouble finding his so they haven't booked the tickets yet. Not only is this going to cost more, but the odds of us getting seats together on the flight back to Melbourne are getting smaller all the time, as are the odds of both of us getting upgrades. *aaarrrgggh*

The local paper had an article in its business section about a woman who has started a web site to sell purple items, including purple duct tape and purple daisy toilet paper!
