Methinks He Doth Protest Too Much
Oct. 2nd, 2006 09:42 pmAs most of you are undoubtedly aware, Florida Republican Mark Foley abruptly quit Congress on Friday after reports surfaced that he'd sent sexually charged electronic messages to boys working as congressional pages. I always find that stories of this type have an extra kick when the area of misbehavior is one that the Congress critter has been specifically known to rail against. To quote AP, "Foley, who is 52 and single, could be found to have violated a law that he helped to write as co-chairman of the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus." ( Political fallout )
We might get a twofer: not only do we get to watch hypocrisy in action, but possibly another Republican seat that wasn't anticipated will fall to the Democrats. Makes a bit of a dent in their The Party of Family Values shtick.
