We're currently in Washington, DC, having had a lovely time at SMOFcon. I'd like to thank the very generous
ann_totusek for having provided an almost continuous shuttle service to/from the Kansas City airport and the very cool Art Deco con hotel. We had some nice meals, caught up with fans from many places, and shepherded our friend Carl WINOLJ through his first SMOFcon experience. Plus, of course, getting to woof by phone with
eackerman about the UF Gators getting into the national championship game (can't say that enough :-> )
Once again, our flights were on time (despite a slight scare in KC when they announced that we would be delayed for an hour and 45 minutes and then less than five minutes later commenced boarding the plane for an on-time departure!) Here in Washington, we went to the International Spy Museum, where we learned cool espionage facts, such as that an Italian spymaster in the 1400s invented an ink that would write through eggshells so you could only see the message when you peeled the egg! We had a nice dinner with
rwl and
nwl last night.
Today, Stephen starts attending his computer conference and I'm having lunch with some fellow administrators of a Jewish email list whom I've never met.
