Sorry to be late - I was on a plane during the telecast and jetlagged for a few days afterward.
Great fit on J Lo but looking like a disco mirror ball puts the attention on the dress and not on you. Great hair and makeup, though.
Good color and great fit but did Lady Gaga think she'd need a place to put her drink?
This wasn't shocking enough to be truly bad but her designer didn't do Emilia Clarke any favors: anemic color, badly fitting waist, too-severe hair, and this shot makes it look like the material is full of pulls.
I like the diagonal design of the corset top on Marina de Tavira but the voluminous shredded tiered skirt looks like it met up with a woodchipper.
Not bad but possibly not the best idea to add more of an appearance of width to Melissa McCarthy. Nice bodice, hair, and makeup, though.
Winner Olivia Colman is appearing on Best Dressed lists but not a fan of this dull green satin with a weirdly draped and similarly uninspired color material that forms into a bow in the back leading to a train and matching sleeves (seen from the side).
Stephan Jones in bright maroon.
Also in burgundy, albeit with gunmetal grey lapel and vest and black pants, was Richard E Grant.
Jason Momoa tries a little too hard in blush pink velvet and... a matching scrunchie worn as a bracelet?
Spike Lee being Spike Lee and looking like a kid's show train conductor.
Winston Duke looks like an old-fashioned referee.
Samuel L Jackson looks fine as always in deep blue.
Pick of the Dudes: Chadwick Boseman in a blue/black patterned combo jacket/robe.
This, um, tuxedo black velvet gown on Billy Porter, he of the pink cape at the Golden Globes, is not something you see on every red carpet... (Porter: "Women show up every day in pants, but the minute a man wears a dress, the seas part.")
Sarah Paulson in a pillow sham and bed ruffle.
Linda Cardellini in a shirred feather duster whose middle in the front apparently moulted. (Even funkier from the back.)
Angela Bassett looks aMAZing for 60, but the bandshell poof on her shoulder is distracting and the wrinkles aren't attractive either.
Kacey Musgraves looks like a pink tiered loofah.
Gemma Chan in a bright pink parachute. Even sillier from the back.
Marie Kondo in a beautiful embroidered fabric, well-fitted and flattering to her figure but a bolder color would have been a bit better.
You gotta wise up, Rachel Weisz: latex is odd enough on the red carpet without it being stop-sign red and with detailing at the waist and hips that serves merely to emphasize them. Plus that headband looks like she's channeling Wednesday Addams.
Hate to diss Ruth E. Carter due to the obvious effort and thought that went into this outfit, and the good fit and color coordination from the first black winner of Best Costume Design, but there's just too much going on here: voluminous sleeves, different colored lining, heavy train... Love the necklace, though.
This is on-brand for Akwafina but it needed to fit better and *not be made out of a fabric that wrinkles*!
Glenn Close apparently tried on a court dress for King Midas's wife - not sure why your only accent on a shimmery sheath would be to deliberately call attention to your hips... and what is with these drapey cape sleeves huge trains on people?
Surprised that this maternity gown on Krysten Ritter would use a pattern that is so unflattering to her baby bump: plus an ugly color and too fitted.
Love Sam Elliott and think Katherine Ross looks pretty good - I like the snake accent - but, um, is she wearing a bra?
I can't even joke about this nightmare on Kerry Washington: badly fitting bodice that flattens her boobs, strange white tape "belt", skirt of tiered shirred ruffles, ugly color, black shoes...
Worst of the Night: Maya Rudolph in her grandma's pink floral sheets shaped into ruffles, tiers, a cape, mismatched jewelry...
Wow, two for two: we got the good Laura Dern, too, in a burgundy pleated corset top that fit well, terrific jewelry, and nice hair.
Selma Blair in multi-colored draped chiffon with a braided bodice and a cane fashion accessory due to her MS diagnosis in August.
The beaded nude look and a great fit work on Amandla Stenberg.
Jennifer Hudson rocks in asymmetric red large ruffles.
Beautifully embroidered baby blue on Laura Harrier and actually attractive skinny metal belt.
The textured material helps the white work on Amy Adams, plus great fit and jewelry.
Wish this skirt on Michelle Yeoh had been a little less voluminous and more flowing but points for originality and fit: waist belt even works! (Trivia: she loaned the emerald ring used in Crazy Rich Asians from her personal collection.)
Helen Mirren in multi-hued flowing pink and a great necklace. (A little on the fence about the sleeves, though.)
Fatma El Remaihi proves that you can be fashionable even within religious modesty constraints.
Best of the Night: Constance Wu in canary yellow that flowed, beautiful hair and makeup, and delicate bodice accent (mirrored in the back). I didn't even mind the asymmetry!
So-So
Winner Regina King: that's a pretty high slit there, and the slinky effect is ruined by the long train. Fits well, though, and interest (even with the slit) at the waist, plus nice blingy bracelet.Great fit on J Lo but looking like a disco mirror ball puts the attention on the dress and not on you. Great hair and makeup, though.

So Dudes
Always nice to see color on dudes, and here's David Oyelowo in deep green with snazzy shoes and a watchchain coat clip.Stephan Jones in bright maroon.
Also in burgundy, albeit with gunmetal grey lapel and vest and black pants, was Richard E Grant.
Jason Momoa tries a little too hard in blush pink velvet and... a matching scrunchie worn as a bracelet?

Pink Parade
Pink is usually such a wimpy pleasant color to wear... not this year!Sarah Paulson in a pillow sham and bed ruffle.
Linda Cardellini in a shirred feather duster whose middle in the front apparently moulted. (Even funkier from the back.)
Angela Bassett looks aMAZing for 60, but the bandshell poof on her shoulder is distracting and the wrinkles aren't attractive either.

Gemma Chan in a bright pink parachute. Even sillier from the back.

So Bad
Emma Stone looks like an emissary from the recently deceased Lizard People. You gotta wise up, Rachel Weisz: latex is odd enough on the red carpet without it being stop-sign red and with detailing at the waist and hips that serves merely to emphasize them. Plus that headband looks like she's channeling Wednesday Addams.

So Good
We got the good Tina Fey this year: flattering color and style, great hair, makeup, and jewelry.Wow, two for two: we got the good Laura Dern, too, in a burgundy pleated corset top that fit well, terrific jewelry, and nice hair.
