Looks like the House is a lock for the Democrats. *Woohoo!* Thanks to the apparent defeats of incumbents in close races in Missouri and Montana, the Senate is amazingly in play as well. However, the result won't be known for some time thanks to recount rules in Virginia, which is way too close to call. (According to CNN, Virginia does not conduct automatic recounts in close races but the apparent loser can request one after the votes have been certified if the margin is less than one percent of the total votes cast.) And as one of the cherries on top, Tom DeLay's seat went to a Democrat *heh heh*

Meanwhile, if I see one more Republican candidate mentioning God, I swear I'm going to barf. Although as Stephen pointed out when Rick Santorum started out his concession speech by thanking God, for once all sides could agree on something!

And while I'm not one to start rumors (and I didn't start this one--my friends in Tallahassee say it's the most open secret in politics), Florida may have just elected its first governor who bats for the home team. Republican "Charming Charlie" Crist looked fab on election night as he accepted congratulations from his supporters.

I didn't vote for him, but he came across in the campaign as more moderate than Jeb Bush, so I'm hoping for the best.

Well, the most blatant religious campaign in the country was probably Harold Ford's in Tennessee. He rather overplayed it, though, and the target audience seems not to have bought it.
