Just got back from my follow-up visit with the ENT surgeon: he says no change in the right vocal cord movement - it's moving slightly but is still mostly paralyzed. He says that every month that goes by that it doesn't come back lessens the odds of it eventually coming back but that unless the patient asks, he doesn't like to do any intervention for a year because he's seen people come back that late. Also, evidently sometimes the non-paralyzed cord moves slightly to get closer to the other cord so it's possible to get more voice back even if the other cord remains mostly paralyzed.

Two points of good news: my brother claims that even over the phone, my voice has more range than he heard last week. The other good news is that the pain in my throat is likely from the hyoid (?) bone that they might have pressed on or moved slightly during surgery and that the ear pain is probably referred pain from that. My eustachian tube is clear so I'm ok to fly.

Looks like I'm going to Australia!
